FAQs

What can I expect for my first treatment?

There is a waiting area when you enter the suite with reception. This is actually the reception for Estar Counseling (Dr. Rodriguez). If you enter the hallway Points for Health is the first door (Room 2) directly in front of you. Please come in when you get here – even if you are early. The door opens directly into the treatment area – with the office/intake room on the right. At this point, it is a good idea to make sure your phone is either off or on silent and you speak quietly so as to not disturb anyone receiving a treatment. If the office door is closed you can wait in a treatment chair, if it is open please come right in. The first appointment will usually take a little longer, 15-30 minutes for the intake and anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour for the treatment.

Why is there a sliding scale?

We offer treatments on a sliding scale of $20 – $40. We want you to be able to afford your treatments and have effective outcomes. Acupuncture works in a cumulative fashion, meaning the treatments build on each other. At the beginning of a treatment protocol, it is better to get your treatments closer together and then, as you improve, space them farther apart. The number of treatments you need depends on your personal response as well as the severity and length of time you have had an issue.

What does acupuncture treat and how many sessions will I need?

Acupuncture is effective in treating all sorts of problems. Some conditions may completely resolve while others are improved and maintained at a more functional level. To find out if acupuncture will help you – you need to try it. Everyone responds differently. A few people will have immediate and strong improvement and a few will not respond at all. The majority of us will be somewhere in the middle.

Forms and scheduling

All of our intake and consent forms are done online. If you are able to complete it before your first appointment that’s great! If not, we will do it during your intake. When you schedule your first appointment there will be a link in the email confirmation to complete and sign the forms. Online scheduling is available and encouraged :-). If you need a same-day appointment (less than 24 hrs notice) please call or text.
